Update on Northgate Redevelopment Project DEIR

Dear RGM Supporters,

Over the last few months, there has been considerable activity around the Northgate Redevelopment Project – notably the release and comment period of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).

Additional details can be found in RGM’s archived 2024 emails which were sent out as the DEIR process unfolded.

We gratefully acknowledge the community for attending meetings, writing comment letters to the City, and especially by donating to RGM – which allowed us to retain an attorney and several environmental experts.

Key highlights of the Northgate Redevelopment Project

LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN

March 5th was the deadline to submit letters for Public Comment to the City. These letters can be viewed on the City’s website. Scroll down to ACTION ITEMS//Public Comment. Please note – the comment lists are currently being updated so check back from time to time.

RGM created sample letters and a list of concerns to be used as guidelines. In addition, RGM and its experts wrote numerous technical letters which were submitted to the City and shared with the community in our emails. These letters can be viewed on the RGM website under ‘Letters’.

Kudos to everyone who wrote impassioned letters about their connection to our community and their concerns regarding the DEIR. The response was excellent.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The City is required to respond to all comments that the community and RGM submitted. These will go into the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR).

As per the City’s published timeline, the FEIR is anticipated to be released in April 2024 followed by a Planning Commission hearing in May 2024 and a City Council hearing in June 2024. Visit the City’s website for details.

Entitlements requested by the Developer (which include required Use Permits and the Development Agreement) will also be addressed during these meetings.

RGM will continue to send emails with information about the process including meeting announcements and continued opportunities for community input and additional letter writing.
