Northgate Town Square Draft Environmental Impact Report Released - What to Know & What to Do -

Dear RGM Supporters,

The City of San Rafael has released the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Northgate Town Square Project. This draft is an important first step in producing the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR). The DEIR identifies and analyzes the potential environmental impacts of the proposed Northgate project and the mitigation measures, if any, that are needed to address those impacts.

Public Comments

The public may review the DEIR and provide comments and questions during a 45-day public review period that ends on February 19th, 2024 at 5pm. At the Planning Commission meeting on February 13th at 7pm comments will also be received in person. The City is then required to research and respond to all substantive comments.

We urge you to save the date of February 13th at 7pm to attend the Planning Commission meeting in person, to show your support and assure community needs are heard. A large community presence is essential to impress our concerns about the Northgate Town Square project and the impacts it will have.

Seeking Donations for Expert Analysis

It is important to understand the numerous types of risks associated with the project and how the developer plans to mitigate them. Please view here a recent Marin IJ article about the environmental issues raised in the DEIR.

RGM volunteers have already identified some issues related to Greenhouse Gases, Traffic, and Noise. We now need to hire experts to analyze, and if appropriate, challenge the assumptions in the documents.
