Dear RGM Supporters, RGM representatives recently met with San Rafael Fire Chief Abe Roman to discuss concerns about fire safety, evacuation routes as well as additional fire services and equipment that will be needed to accommodate the numerous new housing developments that are planned for San Rafael and Terra Linda. This includes the Northgate Town Square, the largest commercial and residential development in Marin. We learned that the Fire Department has engaged a specialist consultant to perform a study of projected citywide growth and the increased needs that the new developments will generate. It is hoped that the study will be complete by late August or early September. The Fire Chief stressed the importance of distributing information regarding emergency alerts as it is crucial that residents are educated on how to prepare themselves and their loved ones for disasters. As we are entering the height of fire season, it is very important for all of us to sign up for AlertMarin and Nixle to get accurate, quick information, including evacuation routes, if an emergency occurs.
